How can I get a V750 certificate?
You can fill in the V750 official form online on the DVLA website. You will first need to create your own account on the agency website to fill in your certificate, renew it, or make adjustments afterwards.
What is a v750 document?
The V750 Certificate of Entitlement is an official pink A4 document used by the DVLA to show who is the owner of a private or personalised number plate.
The V750 form always shows:
- the reg plate's purchaser or owner - the 'grantee';
- the registration number;
- an expiry date.
Good to know
Note that you can not keep a registration number in retention, unattached to a vehicle for more than 10 years without renewing it or you will definitely lose the right to use your private number plate, no matter how much you had to pay.
What if my V750 certificate expires?
Your private reg plate MUST be attached to a document before the certificate expires if you are not planning to renew it.

How can I renew my V750?
You can renew your V750 Certificate of Entitlement online, on the DVLA website. Only the 'grantee' mentioned on the V750 form can make the request though.
Can I get a duplicate of my V750?
My V750 hasn't expired yet but I've lost it. What can I do?
If you've lost your V750 before it expired, you can easily ask for a duplicate on the DVLA's website. Only the reg plate's purchaser can make the request.
What is the difference between V750 and V778 retention document?
The following two documents are absolutely essential to have if you want to register a new personalised number plate or transfer an already existing one.
V750 – Also known as Certificate of Entitlement which you would need in order to register a new personal number.

V778 – Is a Certificate of Retention which allows you to retain and transfer a personal licence number to another vehicle. You will get one once you've filled in a V317 form for instance to transfer your personalised reg plates to another car in your name.
Once you have either of these certificates you need to officially transfer the new or existing registration number to the vehicle that it is intended for. This can be done via the government website or via post. You will need your car’s VC5 (log book) to do this. Once the DVLA receives the documents, the transfer usually happens instantaneously so make sure you have your new number plates printed and ready.
